The research group of Prof. Julio Lloret-Fillol at ICIQ has developed pre-commercial functional prototypes of parallel photoreactors useful in the development of photochemical methodologies. While currently available commercial devices for parallel photochemistry do not allow irradiating with high intensity light and full control of temperature of reaction, the genuine design of these reactors warrant a high control of reaction parameters, such as temperature and light intensity, which both influence seriously the outcome of the processes. A team is currently drawing a business plan and designing new devices for the commercialization of these reactors through the creation of a spin-off company.

The device is protected by an international patent application for which a positive opinion was received in the International Preliminary Examination Report on patentability. We plan to use the GÍNJOL subsidy for the purposes of entry in national phases in Europe and United States of America and complete the study on Freedom to Operate.

El grup de recerca del Prof. Julio Lloret-Fillol a l’ICIQ ha desenvolupat prototips funcionals precomercials de fotorreactors paral·lels útils en el desenvolupament de metodologies fotoquímiques. Mentre els dispositius comercials disponibles per a la fotoquímica en paral·lel actualment no permeten irradiar amb llum d’alta intensitat ni tenir un control total de la temperatura de reacció, el disseny únic d’aquests reactors garanteix un alt control dels paràmetres de reacció, com la temperatura i la intensitat de la llum. S’està generant un equip emprendedor al voltant d’aquesta tecnologia, que impulsa nous dissenys del reactor i un pla de negoci per comercilalitzar els dipositius a travès d’una spin-off.

El dispositiu està protegit per una sol licitud de patent internacional per al qual s’ha obtingut un informe preliminar de patentabilitat positiu. Tenim previst utilitzar la contribució financera del fons GÍNJOL per finançar l’entrada a fases nacionals de la patent a Europa i Estats Units i completar un estudi de llibertat d’operació en aquests mercats.
